G-Spot Orgasm

A G-spot orgasm is an orgasm triggered primarily by stimulation of the anterior (front) wall of the vagina, roughly 5–8 cm inside, in the area commonly called the G-spot. The term was popularized after gynecologist Ernst Gräfenberg described the zone in 1950, but modern anatomical research has reframed the picture substantially: what most people call the “G-spot” is not a distinct organ with fixed coordinates. It is a highly sensitive region where the internal roots of the clitoris, the urethral sponge, and surrounding erectile tissue converge. A G-spot orgasm, in practice, is an orgasm produced by firm, rhythmic pressure against that anterior wall, stimulating the internal clitoral complex from the inside.

Sensitivity in this area varies considerably from person to person. Some people find firm pressure there intensely pleasurable; others notice little or no distinct sensation. Neither response is a malfunction. Research published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine consistently describes G-spot sensitivity as a spectrum rather than a binary ability, shaped by anatomy, arousal state, and individual nerve distribution.

Does the G-Spot Orgasm Feel Different from a Clitoral One?

Many people who experience both describe a G-spot orgasm as fuller or more diffuse: a deep, pressure-based sensation compared to the sharper, more localized quality of direct clitoral stimulation. Some also report a strong urge to urinate just before orgasm from internal stimulation, this is normal and relates to the proximity of the urethral sponge to the bladder. High arousal before attempting internal stimulation tends to make the anterior wall noticeably more responsive, because the internal clitoral tissue engorges with blood during arousal, bringing it closer to the vaginal surface.
